Dr. Aya Almog Zaken

Dr. Aya Almog-Zaken is a social worker, researcher, and lecturer at Sapir College. Her professional experience includes individual and family work with children and youth at a supervised visitation center, as well as developing and leading educational programs for at-risk children and youth at the Haruv Institute and as an applied social researcher in Meyers-Joint-Brookdail institute. Currently, she teaches and conducts research in both undergraduate and graduate programs, focusing on at-risk children and youth, children's subjective well-being, children's rights, child abuse and neglect, and the study of resilience and trauma in childhood.

Dr. Almog-Zaken serves as the associate editor of Meidaos, the journal of the Israeli Association of Social Workers, where she promotes the publication of articles in the fields of social work practice and research in both routine and emergency contexts. Her doctoral research explored the experiences and perceptions of children who grew up in the cult led by Goel Ratzon, and she continues to develop innovative mixed-methods research methodologies to advance new theories in the field of child welfare.

Aya is committed to training professionals to work with children and youth and to leading research that deepens the understanding of their world, with an emphasis on fostering resilience, protecting their rights, and improving their quality of life.

ד"ר איה אלמוג-זקן עוסקת במחקר יישומי ותיאורטי בתחום רווחת הילד, ילדים ונוער בסיכון, ופרקטיקות התערבות בעבודה סוציאלית. מחקריה משלבים שיטות איכותניות וכמותיות (שיטות משולבות), תוך התמקדות בחוויותיהם הסובייקטיביות של ילדים ובני משפחותיהם במצבי סיכון, טראומה, התעללות והזנחה. בין מחקריה הבולטים: הערכות תוכניות שיקום ושימור משפחתי, חקר תפיסות של אנשי מקצוע והורים בתכניות רווחה, בחינת תהליכי קבלת החלטות במערכות הגנה על ילדים, וניתוח חוויות ילדים שגדלו בקבוצות שוליים או כתות. ד"ר אלמוג-זקן שותפה למחקרים בין-לאומיים, סקירות מדיניות, ומחקרי הערכה של תוכניות חדשניות לילדים ונוער בסיכון בישראל. בעבודתה היא שואפת לפתח וליישם מתודולוגיות חדשניות, להעמיק את ההבנה של עולמם הרגשי והחברתי של ילדים, ולתרום לגיבוש מדיניות ופרקטיקה מבוססת ראיות לשיפור רווחתם

2025-2027: מענק מחקר ה"דלתות המסתובבות במערכת הבריאות": בחינת הפניות חוזרות של ילדים בחשד להתעללות והזנחה במערכת הבריאות ודיווחם ולרשויות. מטעם המכון הלאומי לחקר שירותי הבריאות ומדיניות הבריאות.
