פרופ' נוזהה אלאסד אלהוזייל היא פרופסורית חבר בבית הספר לעבודה סוציאלית במכללה האקדמית ספיר, ראשת מרכז הידע והמחקר לחקר החברה הבדואית בנגב, וחוקרת מובילה בתחום עבודה סוציאלית עם קבוצות מיעוט, ידע ילידי, ומגדר בחברות מסורתיות. מחקריה עוסקים בקולות ובחוויות של נשים וגברים בדואים בהקשרים של עוני, פוליגמיה, שינוי חברתי וחינוך, תוך שילוב גישות ביקורתיות ורגישות תרבותית.
היא ממקימות תוכנית "שער לאקדמיה" לשילוב צעירים וצעירות מהחברה הבדואית במוסדות ההשכלה הגבוהה בדרום, ועומדת בראש הוועדה לקידום ההשכלה הגבוהה והסטודנטים הערבים במכללה האקדמית ספיר ולקידום הוגנות בקמפוס. בנוסף, היא חברה בוועד המנהל של ארגוני "כוכבי המדבר" ו"תמכין", וממייסדות תוכנית המיקרופיננס בחברה הבדואית יחד עם גב' חגית רובנשטיין.
פרופ' אלהוזייל פיתחה תוכניות חדשניות לשילוב בוגרי תארים פלסטיניים בעבודה סוציאלית בישראל ולהכשרת עובדים סוציאליים מהחברה הבדואית, כמו "גשר מקשר" ו"אל-עוסאג’". היא מרצה אורחת באוניברסיטאות ברחבי העולם, וחברה פעילה בוועדות מקצועיות וכתבי עת מובילים בתחום העבודה הסוציאלית.
היא שואפת שמחקריה יהיו יישומיים לפרקטיקה וישרתו את הקהילות שהשתתפו בהם. מתוך אמונה עמוקה שהידע שייך לאוכלוסיית המחקר, היא פועלת לכך שהתובנות וההמלצות יגיעו לקהילה ויתרמו לשינוי חברתי אמיתי.

Prof. Nuzha Allassad Alhuzail is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Work at Sapir Academic College and Head of the Knowledge and Research Center for the Study of Bedouin Society in the Negev. She is a leading researcher in the fields of social work with minority groups, Indigenous knowledge, and gender in traditional societies. Her research focuses on the voices and experiences of Bedouin men and women in contexts of poverty, polygamy, social change, and education, integrating critical and culturally sensitive approaches.

She is one of the founders of the "Gateway to Academia" program, which promotes the integration of young Bedouin men and women into higher education institutions in southern Israel. She also chairs the Committee for the Advancement of Higher Education and Arab Students at Sapir Academic College and promotes equity on campus. In addition, she serves on the boards of the organizations “Desert Stars” and “Tmkeen",” and co-founded the Bedouin microfinance initiative together with Ms. Hagit Rubinstein.

Prof. Alhuzail has developed innovative programs such as “Connecting Bridge” and “Al-‘Usaj” for integrating Palestinian degree holders into the Israeli social work system and training social workers from the Bedouin community. She is a guest lecturer at universities worldwide and an active member of professional committees and leading journals in the field of social work.

Driven by a strong belief that knowledge belongs to the communities who contribute to research, she strives to ensure her findings are translated into practice and shared with those communities to promote meaningful social change.

Research

Prof. Nuzha Allassad Alhuzail’s research focuses on the intersection of social work, indigeneity, and gender within traditional and marginalized societies, particularly the Bedouin community in Israel. Her scholarship explores the lived experiences of Bedouin women and men in contexts of poverty, polygamy, social transformation, child marriage, masculinity, and education. She has extensively studied the challenges faced by social workers in Arab society, the integration of Indigenous knowledge into social work practice, and the role of social workers in conflict zones. Her work integrates critical, decolonial, and culturally sensitive frameworks, with particular attention to the voices of minoritized populations and the adaptation of social work education and practice to their realities
