Omri Herzog is a Senior Lecturer of Cultural Studies in the Department of Culture — Creation and Production at Sapir College. His research interests include corporeal politics, cultural critique, and the political dynamics of Israeli culture. He co-edited the books Canonical and Popular (2007) and Inter-Cultural Interfaces (2009). His recent articles deal with the politics of Israeli beauty, celebrities culture, the horror genre, and representations of bad motherhood. He regularly publishes literary critiques in Haaretz newspaper, for which he won the Bernstein Prize in 2012.
My research deals with understanding contemporary culture through the interface betwwen "high" and "popular" cultures. The focus of my recent articles aims to examine conflictual idiologies within horror texts, bodily performances and celebrities culture.
